,,Avalanche" is a documentary play based on the dramatic incident in Icelandic history when a huge avalanche hit the small fishing village of Flateyri in the west coast of Iceland in 1995 killing 20 people. The tragic event had a huge impact on the small village and the Icelandic nation as a whole. The play is based on exclusive interviews taken with survivors, their families, rescue team workers and others involved including former President of Iceland, Vigdís Finnbogadóttir. The authors received the Icelandic Drama Award, Gríman, 2016, for the most innovative theatre production of the year.
