Saara Turunen's long-awaited new work premiered at Q-Theatre in February 2019. Medusa's Room is a fragmentary performance inspired by the myth of Medusa. It highlights images and situations, moments and glimpses, all of which have some kind of relationship to power, its gendering and unequal distribution.

Medusa's Room continues the stage language and performance style familiar from Turunen's previous theatre work, The Phantom of Normality.

The performances function as a kind of pair of works, but at the same time they build their own, independent and special world.

"Beautiful, funny, entertaining, even provocative. Slow, fine, not quite easy, quite serious, gentle. Really gentle."

"Medusa's Room is not easy, but not difficult either. There is a lot of ugliness in it, but more beauty. The work awakens, but does not force. It makes you smile, not cry at all."
