A monologue for several performers

For My Brother is a modern monologue, where the text opens access to the main character's mental landscape, while many external aspects remain in the background. The narrator is a woman who idolizes her brother. In this feminist play, the circumstances of the main character's life come back to the woman's physicality, overweight and ugliness. In addition to the perfect brother, the object of our gaze is a series of "lucksters", i.e. the brother's dating partners at the time, whose bodies our attention is drawn to. The main character's speech is self-contained and interesting to follow until the surprising twists at the end, where the woman finds new roles in her life besides "sister".

E.L. Karhu has written many of the most prestigious plays of recent years, and Veljelleni continues the list of the author's high-quality contemporary texts.
